If you learn from defeat you haven't really lost.

In The Beginning

Welcome Ladies to your time to shine! The Warrior team of 2010 is now official! We had our first three games officially as "big eighth graders". lol Although the team outcome was not what we want to expect i saw many individual improvements. Two things I am very excited about are the individual attitude changes and the team concept that is developing. Both will be great attributes for us during season. Also I want to take the time to point out that I am impressed with the use of your left hands, we have work yet to be done with them but I see a good start to that process. I also want to commend the way you listen and learn. I have thrown a lot at you and your willingness to try to accomplish what I ask is tremendous!
Know that I am not at all disappointed in what we have done this summer. Once again now is the time to learn, improve and grow as individuals and as a team. We are doing that! For those who see this any differently.....well maybe you should read the blog! Keep up the hard work even when my eyes aren't there to see the progress then you can "wow" me later. I should have a calendar on here soon where i will post all practices and events. Again, I am proud and privileged to be your coach. Till next post......work on those dribbling skills so you can "OPEN THAT LANE LIKE A BOX OF CRACKER JACKS!"

Lovin' it,
Coach Mullink

  1. I would just like to commend Coach Mullink and Coach Ridder for giving up their time this summer to try to improve the Jr. High girls basketball program. Summer league is tough because it is a true change of gears. In the regular season we strive for a record of wins. In summer league we strive for a record of improvement. Most of the time in doing so you have to sacrafice the win that you could have picked up during other circumstances. You may turn the ball over by trying something your not very good at but that is what summer league is all about. I watched you at the IC Shootout and I seen many of you girls playing outside of your comfort zone doing things you may not be used to doing. As a coach I was very impressed. I did not see any of you lag or hang your heads. It's easy to play hard when your kicking the crap out of someone, it's not so easy to play hard when your battling mental frustration. All I can say is you are a very talented group of girls and make sure you listen to coach on the floor and not the coach's in the stands. Parents always want what is best for their kids but they do not always understand the trials and tribulations involved with developing a team. Keep your heads up girls, keep scrappin! You had a great year last year with Coach Ridder, you will have another great year this year with Coach Mullink, and hopefully two years from now you will have a great year with me!
